What is the Best sports bra for Horse Riding?

Breast pain in the saddle? You’re not alone.

In a study of 1,324 women riders, 40% reported experiencing breast pain while riding – with the sitting trot topping the charts for discomfort. The research, led by the University of Portsmouth, also found that breast pain ranked as the fourth biggest barrier to riding for women.

So, I put some of our best sports bras to the test – on real riders, doing real riding. After saddle time, sweat, and honest feedback, these three bras came out on top for support, comfort, and staying put.

Here are 3 of our most popular high impact sports bras for horse riding:

1. Let’s talk about a bra that means business. The Enell SPORT is like a firm but loving hug from someone who knows their way around a stable – strong, secure, and absolutely no nonsense when it comes to bounce.

Enell Sports Bra

Why riders rave about the Enell SPORT:

"No bounce! Love these bras, was obviously time for a new one as the old ones had stretched and wow what a difference. My go to for horse riding, especially if your on a bouncy one that won't walk out hunting." ~Alicia

  • Shoulder Bliss: wide, non-stretch straps that say “You're not sliding anywhere.”
  • Boob Control Deluxe: snug compression keep your girls from doing the cha-cha with every trot.
  • Front-Fastening Wizardry: hook and eye closures at the front – because twisting yourself into knots just to get dressed is not agreat warm-up.
  • Firm But Flexible: the wide underband stays put, even when you don’t.
  • Back in Action: full-coverage back with cross-strap design that’s practically a cheerleader for your posture and gives you a smooth back.
  • Cool, Calm, Collected: made from moisture-wicking Naturexx® fabric to help you stay fresh even after a sweaty canter (or a mildly enthusiastic gallop – no judgment).

2. For those seeking a high-impact sports bra that doesn't compromise on comfort or style, meet Simone. She's the underwire sports bra that offers maximum support without the dreaded "uni-boob" effect.

Why Equestrians depend on Simone:

"No sweaty uniboob. The cups fit great and there’s a ton of support and lift. Completely controls any boob movement while playing netball and best of all, no sweaty uniboob." ~Colleen

  • High-Impact Hero: whether you're posting trot or galloping like the wind, this bra reins in the bounce with gusto.
  • Reduces breast bounce by up to 60%
  • Underwire, But Make It Comfortable: a supportive frame that lifts and separates – like a polite but firm butler for your boobs. No squish. No mono-boob.
  • Cup Contour Magic: two-ply cups reduce chafing and keep everything breathable, even when you're layered up in winter woollies.
  • Straps That Adapt: choose racerback or regular – Simone adjusts to you, not the other way around.
  • Back Ventilation Panel: a mesh moment that lets your back breathe – because riding is work, and sweat happens.

3. For those moments when you're cantering, trotting, or attempting to gracefully dismount without a comedic tumble—introducing the Shock Absorber Max Support Sports Bra. It's like having a trusty steed for your chest: reliable, supportive, and always ready for action.

Why Horse Riders recommend the Shock Absorber:

"Now I understand what all the hype is about! No wire but the support is great. I'm training for a marathon and this bra is supportive and comfortable for longer runs. Highly recommend you give the Shock Absorber a go." ~Jessie

  • No Wires, No Worries: that’s right – no underwire. Just top-tier design and compression support that holds the line while you post, trot, or hang on for dear life.
  • Strap in, Literally: wide, padded straps that won’t dig in.
  • Sweat-Resistant Style: moisture-wicking fabric helps keep you cool while your horse does laps for refusing that jump again.
  • Chafe-Free Comfort: soft, non-rub fastenings mean no surprise sore spots when you peel this off after a long ride.

@meg – thanks so much for sharing – you’re absolutely not alone! That level of bounce is uncomfortable and distracting. Based on everything you’ve said — high support, no strap slippage, smooth lines, and full coverage without spillover — I’d recommend starting with the Enell Sport. It’s wire-free but incredibly firm, designed specifically for big busts and high-impact movement like horse riding.

Ride & compete with my horse. It’s extremely uncomfortable, distracting and quite embarrassing when your breasts are bouncing all over the place. It looks awful and unprofessional. I wear an underwire bra and minimizer and it in no way restricts movement. I want a bra that doesn’t slip down my shoulders, holds me firmly in place, highest restriction of movement, thick straps without spilling out of sides and lies smoothly in my back in my show clothing. Please advise which is best bra for equestrian with these concerns.
